Thank you to everyone who created a submission in the Resilient Business Challenge, and those who participated in the Community Support Phase. Once again, our #LoveYYC community has shown itself to be an innovative, passionate, engaged, and resourceful group.

The Challenge: Imagine winning the lottery and investing a signficant portion of those winnings into the Calgary economy. The goal is to get a maximum return on investment over the next five years, while having a positive impact on Calgary’s job opportunities and communities.

Thanks to your feedback and support, and the work of our Expert Reviewers, we’re excited to announce the winners of the #LoveYYC Resilient Business Challenge:

  1. Best overall idea: YYCampus by colin has won the opportunity to present this idea to Calgary Economic Development, participate in a 1 on 1 interview as part of Calgary’s new economic strategy, and a $500 Amazon gift card, as well as a ticket to Calgary Economic Development’s Report to the Community.
  2. Best new company: GreenCycle Calgary by MattWilsonYYC now has the opportunity to present this idea to Startup Calgary and receive a Rosso Coffee gift card (winner of ATB Small Business of the Year award).

For those of you keeping score at home, we didn't have any submissions in the Acquisition Category.

Congratulations winners, and thanks #LoveYYC community members for sharing your vision, expertise, and encouragement in the Resilient Business Challenge. We invite you to continue the conversation in our Wide Open Spaces activity.

What’s Next?
Even though our winners have been chosen, there are still plenty of activities to participate in in #LoveYYC.

Check out our Resilient Business Challenge Feedback Activity and help us determine how these ideas could be implemented in real life.

Complete the activity and continue the conversation.
